Getting out and talking to Coloradans is the best part of this job. It’s where I get to see all the work going on to make our communities better. It’s where I hear about the problems where the federal government might be able to help, whether that’s a new sewer line in Rico or making sure Space Command stays in Colorado Springs.

But I’ve also noticed that the picture people get of Washington on T.V. isn’t quite right. If you only read the headlines and watched the news, you’d think Washington is a bitter, violent, no-holds-barred fight between Democrats and Republicans. But it’s not! We do get things done, and we do make a difference, mostly by working together where we can. I’ll never abandon my values, but I’ll do anything I can to work with my colleagues and deliver for Coloradans.

So I thought I’d write to you directly and start giving folks a fuller picture of what actually goes on in Washington and what we’re working on.

We all get too many emails, so I promise to write every week without adding to your spam.
